Overview

Convert actual temperatures between Celsius, Fahrenheit and kelvin, with absolute-zero validation.

Formula

°F = °C × 9/5 + 32
K = °C + 273.15
°C = (°F − 32) × 5/9

Example

0 °C equals 32 °F and 273.15 K. −40 °C equals −40 °F. Absolute zero is −273.15 °C or 0 K.

How to use

  1. Check the units, enter the required values and select the available calculation options.
  2. Results update immediately. Correct any highlighted input before using the result.
  3. Choose display precision, copy the result or share the current inputs. Reset restores the example values.

Engineering notes

  • This converts actual temperatures, not temperature differences. An interval of 1 °C equals an interval of 1 K or 1.8 °F.
  • Negative Celsius and Fahrenheit values are permitted provided they are at or above absolute zero.

Frequently asked questions FAQ

Can I use this for a 10 °C temperature difference?

No. A 10 °C difference is an 18 °F difference, whereas an actual temperature of 10 °C is 50 °F.

Does display precision change the calculation?

No. Rounding is applied only to displayed results, not intermediate calculations. Small nonzero values use scientific notation. Consider the precision of the original measurements when interpreting results.
